Neville McKay (left) and Brent Tane both work for Pacific Fuel and were on the home leg of a journey from Wellington to Sanson and back when Faye Lougher caught up with them in Levin.
The pair had been making deliveries to Z stations with Brent in the driver’s seat of the 2014 Man TGX 26.480 and 12-speed auto, and Neville in the passenger seat as his trainer.
In the past week two new players have arrived in the autonomous truck
market, one with a revolutionary new concept that gives ‘autonomous’ a whole
new meaning and could see drivers operating vehicles from their desk rather
than a cab.

Roving reporter Faye Lougher had an ulterior motive when she let Lawrence Latoa’s truck pull in front of her into a line of vehicles on SH1 in Levin – to grab him for a Just Truckin’ Around profile! Lucky for her his next stop was just around the corner at Resene, which is where she snapped him after he made his delivery.

Living on a country road, Faye Lougher sees milk tankers go
past almost every day but she’s never managed to stop one for
a JTA – until now!
Johnny Miller was on his normal route around Koputaroa,
north of Levin, and his truck was nice and shiny so the stars were
all aligned at last.
